Can you believe it? We're already in the last week of May! Now, let’s talk about the market. Today, being Monday, both the US and UK markets are closed due to Memorial Day and a bank holiday, respectively. This means there won’t be much activity in those sessions. Later tonight, we have some meetings and speeches lined up, but overall, it’s a quiet day.
On Tuesday, we’ll see some action starting with the FOMC member's speech early in the morning and Australia's retail sales data. Expectations are slightly higher this time around, so it will be interesting to see the results. Additionally, we have several speeches and indexes being released throughout the day, but nothing major that will drastically move the market.
Wednesday brings us the US consumer confidence report, which is crucial. It’s expected to show a slight decrease. We also have Germany’s CPI data at the end of the day, which is always significant given Germany's influence on the Eurozone.
Thursday is a holiday in Brazil—Corpus Christi—so there will be reduced activity in the Brazilian market. We'll also see various economic reports and speeches from the US, including GDP data and jobless claims, which might introduce some volatility.
Friday wraps up the week with a host of speeches from the Bank of England and the FOMC, as well as important PMI data from China and CPI data from the Eurozone. These could impact the Australian dollar and euro, so keep an eye on them.
Given the overall pace this week, I can't stress enough the importance of risk management. I’ve noticed that many traders excel during volatile periods but struggle when the market slows down. Patience is key. Stick to your strategy, even if the market isn't moving much. Don’t force trades. Remember, your strategy was built and tested to handle different market conditions.
